| The only word that describes my emotions tonight is WOW. The annual LUNGevity HOPE Summit took place this weekend, and I had the opportunity to watch 120 lung cancer survivors -- many stage 4 -- talk and connect and hug. And many of the "newbies" had never met another lung cancer survivor. I'm too tired to begin to share all I want to tonight. Instead I hope you tune in to upcoming newsletters where I'll share what I spoke about as well as tips from the many other wonderful speakers. Best wishes for now, Dr. Lynne |
| How to Choose a Cancer Doctor
I have rarely been as impressed as I was this morning, to listen to a down-to-earth and compassionate oncologist, Dr. Gus Gonzalez. Perhaps what impressed me the most was an answer to a question concerning an oncologist who wasn't aware of guidelines for a specific lung cancer. He said "get a different oncologist." Wow again. As cancer patients it's not your job to educate your oncologist if she isn't aware of current guidelines or clinical trials that may save your life. Get a second opinion. Today I spoke on this very topic. Oh how I wish I could share the latest research for hours -- for example, how things such as meditation and acupuncture can make a difference.
