From Lynne Eldridge MD, your Guide to Lung Cancer

Sadly, even for those who are diagnosed in the earlier stages of the disease, too often lung cancer returns.  What are the symptoms of a recurrence, and how can metastases be treated?

Best wishes until next week,  Dr. Lynne

Where Does Lung Cancer Spread?

While lung cancer can spread to virtually any region of the body, there are places it is more likely to rear its ugly head.

Bone Metastases From Lung Cancer

Around 30 to 40% of people with advanced lung cancer will develop bone metastases.  What are some common symptoms?  How are they treated?

Lung Cancer That Spreads to the Brain

In the past there wasn't much too be done when lung cancer spread to the brain.  That's changing for some people.  For those who only have a few "spots" in their brain, removing these may improve survival.  Some of the newer targeted therapies also hold promise for shrinking brain metastases (though temporarily as resistance develops.)

Liver Metatstases From Lung Cancer

When looking at scans it can be hard to know if "spots" that show up on the liver are due to the spread of cancer, or due to other benign causes - and there are many things that can cause benign spots, most of which would never even have been noted if you hadn't had a scan.  That said, what are some common symptoms of liver metastases and what treatments may be considered?
